INTEGRALLY TROWELED CURE AND POLISHED CONCRETE (ITCP)
The course, “Integrally Troweled Cure And Polished Concrete”, (ITCP), falls under 03 35 00 - Concrete Finishing in the specifications and the summary and learning objectives are listed below:
Summary:
This program addresses the need to properly cure and finish concrete; it also discusses the method used to create a polished concrete floor during the concrete finishing process using tools common in the industry to reduce labor, downtime, and environmental impact. Through an examination of the current American Concrete Institute, (ACI), recommendations and the advancing technology that allows dramatic time and labor savings while increasing the quality of the finished product. This program will show and discuss advanced concrete technology with the use of the power trowel alone to create a unique architectural finished product. Education in advanced methods to expose aggregate and ultra-high gloss are also shown.
This unique system also eliminates moisture loss which reduces cracking and seals the surface so effectively there is no additional need for moisture mitigation. It also presents methods to protect the site, promote an advanced construction schedule and reduce environmental impact.
Learning Objectives:
Understanding the various methods for Curing and Finishing Concrete and present green and sustainable options to achieve it.
Describe how to achieve Integrally Troweled concrete using tools common in the industry that protect the site, promote an advanced construction schedule and reduce labor.
Identify Pro-Active Solutions to Moisture Mitigate concrete and Explain the benefits of using low VOC, neutral pH chemistry.
Discuss how to Specify Integrally Troweled Cure & Polished concrete (ITCP) and reduce the environmental impact. Describe contribution to LEED v4.1.
